Helping the Orphans in Najaf

By Mariam H., DYLEP 2016 Participant

First of all my project was with my IYLEPer friend (Reem Hayder). Our project basically was to give out clothes to orphans for the upcoming winter and so from what we have learned in project planning courses to set the smallest number of people that I want to help and start from there.

Reem started out with spreading the idea between doctors that are her father’s friends at another charity event and she raised some money from them. Reem and I started to ask people to help spread the news in our school and raise money from both teachers and students. There was a database of orphans families in the charity that I was a part. Reem and I gave out clothes to a 112 children and in the second gathering it was 137 children.

We’re also planning to continue our work and hopefully reach higher numbers.
